What Is Scouting?
Scouting is an international youth movement with a membership of over 30 million boys, girls, youth and adult leaders from 161 countries. With an global vision of “creating a better world”, Scouting aims to encourage the spiritual, mental, social and physical development of young people so that they may realise their full potential as individuals, responsible citizens and members of their local, national and international communities. This is achieved through a structured programme of non-formal education which focusses on: developing character, training members in citizenship and developing member’s spiritual, social, mental and physical qualities.

About 2nd Somerset West
The 2nd Somerset West Scout Group was established in 1957 and is one of the most successful groups in South Africa, regularly winning Provincial Cub and Scout competitions.
We are a dedicated group who realize the Scout honour and thrive on participating in activities and duties to the best of our ability.
Scout meetings are usually on Fridays for Cubs and Scouts at their respective times. Many other activities / competitions are organised throughout the year and are featured on our programme on this website.
The group hall is located at 111 Drama Street and is easily recognisable by the large mural of Cubs and Scouts in action, painted on the street facing wall.
